Follow community feedback and undertaking an access Equalities Impact Assessment and play Equalities Impact Assessment the final design was created. The area will have a wildlife theme, using equipment with a mostly natural feel.
Key additions in this design include:
- More pieces of equipment have been added
- Zones, including a toddler area (0-4 years)
- Slides
- Picnic benches, one of which will have a back rest, and picnic spots
- Fencing
A NMA application is in progress for the alterations of the originally proposed G4 access.
We are pleased to say that the refurbishment of the recreation ground is expected to begin 2 October 2023 and last approximately 5 weeks depending on weather and ground conditions.

We have finished analysing the feedback we received on the draft concept plan. All the feedback received will be used to help us for our final design.
Key takeaways from the survey responses that we would like to share with you are:
- Most people travel to the recreation ground on foot
- Many people would like to use the recreation ground for a variety of activities
- Lots of people who would like to use the play park area would also like to play in the other available spaces
- It is important for many people that the play park area provides a mixture of activities and play types. Key suggestions were to have a greater variety of equipment, suitable for children of different ages
- The most common suggestions received were around the play equipment, with a particular desire to add swings for different ages and a slide
- Natural play was the most favoured play style, although a significant number of respondents liked more than one style of play
- Most people were happy to have a theme, with wildlife being the preferred theme, and the wildlife features were something you liked about the draft concept plan
- Some people also provided suggestions around seating, landscaping and facilities
Once the concept plan has been redesigned taking in your feedback it will be published on this page for public comment.
