Dorset Council (DC) is currently developing materials which will help us to procure products and services more sustainably, and we would appreciate your input on the content and functionality of these tools.
A key driver for this work is the need to reduce the environmental impacts associated with the goods and services DC buys, including tackling emissions to help achieve our net zero targets. Through our approach to sustainable procurement, we also want to address wider issues such as climate resilience, nature and biodiversity, and waste and materials, while working collaboratively with suppliers to achieve these outcomes.
We are inviting businesses to test one of the draft outputs - the Procurement Toolkit. Council officers would use this to generate procurement documents, and we want to know if the information supplied helps you as a supplier (or prospective supplier) when creating documents to supply Dorset Council and other local authorities or public sector organisations.
We very much welcome your feedback and constructive suggestions on how the toolkit could be improved. Firstly, familiarise your self with the Toolkit, then follow the link to complete the short survey. Thank you!
Click the category and type of product you’re interested in supplying, to see a set of potential impacts (or hit the ‘frequently procured’ button for a list of common categories).
Select the item you’re supplying (e.g. cups)
Filter results by theme e.g. Climate change, Waste management
Filter results by the life cycle phase that’s relevant to what you’re supplying, e.g.
if you are supplying taxi services, you might be most concerned with the usage phase, i.e. the environmental impact of the use of the vehicle during the contract period.
if you are supplying coffee cups, you might be most concerned with manufacture, packaging, and end-of-life disposal, i.e. the materials used in the product, the packaging supplied with it, and the impacts of disposing of it after use.
Click on individual impacts to see starting guidance on things like supplier questions, clauses (tiered from basic to comprehensive), model responses, KPIs, certifications and labels.
Download content as a word document to help you write and structure supplier documents.
