Future Coast North Swanage Adaptation Plan Community Conversation drop-in 4-8pm

Cliff recession, coastal erosion and natural processes shape our coastlines. Climate change and sea level rise will increase the impact of these changes, but by preparing proactively, we can adapt and build resilience for future generations. Dorset Council are developing the Adaptation Plans to review the risks associated with coastal change and to create long-term plans for adapting and managing our coastline.
How will this be done?
Community knowledge and engagement are essential pillars of Future Coast North Swanage. To ensure local voices shape the Adaptation Plan, we will be hosting two dedicated community events designed to gather comments, feedback, and local expertise. The first of these workshops will be on Wednesday 4 February 2026 in The Studio, Mowlem Swanage focusing on potential triggers and resulting actions to support communities in responding to future coastal change.
How can I help?
We are inviting you to the Adaptation Plan community conversation on:
Wednesday 4th February, drop in anytime between 4pm - 8pm at The Studio - The Mowlem
The event will consist of:
- a short presentation on Adaptation Plans will be given at 5pm by Ross Fitzgerald, CGeol, FGS, MSc Associate Director Geomorphology at consultants Jacobs
- come along and give your responses and comments to the outcomes of a stakeholder workshop earlier in the day
- meet the Future Coast North Swanage Steering Group and your community representatives
