Have your say on future plans for Dorset Harbours
Future plans forWeymouth, West Bay andLyme Regis Harbours are being considered and how best to balance the interests of its wide variety of users and the importance of the harbours to the Dorset Coast. There are many considerations when ensuring the long-term economic viability of the harbours and we are seeking views from harbour users and everyone who has an interest in the harbours to have your say and contribute towards a new Dorset Harbours Strategy.
Why do we need a Dorset Harbours Strategy?
The purpose of the Strategy is to inform harbour users, employees and local communities how they can expect to see Weymouth, West Bay and Lyme Regis Harbours develop over the next 10 years.
Dorset Council’s Harbours Committee has appointed Dorset Coast Forum to gather feedback from different users groups about their requirements and from the local businesses and communities about how they use the harbours and what they would like to see for their future.
How can I be involved?
Thank you to the Dorset Harbours users, stakeholders and businesses who attended the recent zoom workshops .
If you were not able to attend a workshop to share your views on the harbours you can still have your say by completing the survey below. The questions in the survey are the same questions discussed at the workshops. Paper copies of the survey are also available from each of the Harbour Masters Offices.
The survey will close on Sunday 11th October.
What happens next?
A summary of the responses from the workshops and online survey will be reported and available to view on this website. From this report draft priorities for the strategy will be developed with the Dorset Council Harbours Committee. The draft strategy priorities will be consulted with harbours users by February 2021 with the draft strategy consultation in Spring 2021. The final strategy is scheduled to be completed by Summer 2021.
